ISTELive 23: Whats Going On? Some Big Announcements from Microsoft

ISTE has always been an important source of learning for me, and any year I can come to the live conference is a good year for me in terms of innovation. When June 1 came around, I knew. I knew I was walking well and pain-free enough to go to ISTELive 23. While I wasn't ready last fall to commit (and didn't submit to present anything), I've been using AI in my classroom and kicked off 80 Days of AI (which will be continuing this week), which sparked some conversations with some people at Microsoft and the amazing things they are doing. So, I will have one presentation this year, and besides that, my producer (and son), John, has come with me to document the learning and thoughts to share on my podcast/ YouTube channel/ social media and — as always — here on my blog.

And those of you not here, don't worry; you'll have exciting things too — on Monday, you'll want to download that episode when it comes out!

The Era of AI.

I will join Microsoft and their group of awesome experts on the panel discussion, The era of AI: a discussion on its potential for education on Sunday, June 25 at 1:30 pm in 204B. I’m so excited to share AI experiences from my classroom and to learn from the other amazing panelists, Joe Brazier, Scott Bricker, Sallee Clark, and Victor Hicks. If you're there, I hope you'll join us.

Important Microsoft Announcements.

I will also be live sharing (Twitter, Facebook) Microsoft’s Monday session, which has some amazing announcements.

Special Breaking News Podcast from ISTE on Monday.

Then, on Monday, just after Microsoft makes some incredible announcements about their work with AI (game-changing is an understatement), I will be releasing a special announcement interview from Microsoft for you on my podcast and YouTube channel.

I don’t want all of my educator friends to be left out, so we've got announcements directly for you. Some pretty amazing things are happening, so I prerecorded this under non-disclosure the week before ISTE so you can get the news the moment it breaks! Stay tuned to my blog, as I’ll release it here first.

Hands-on AI Workshop.

What can you do with AI? If you’re heading to ISTE, you can learn more at the AI in Education: Opportunities and Tools, which will run three times — Monday, June 26 at 3:30 – 4:15 pm in 204B, Tuesday at noon, or Wednesday at 11:30 am. This session will be after the announcements from Monday at the mini-keynote, so if you’re there, you’ll want to put this on your calendar.

My friend Mark Sparvell will have an Edtalk in the Convention Center at booth 2904, and I plan to drop by on his Monday presentation at 2:30 pm.

What if I’m not going?

But don’t worry; you won’t be left out. I am so excited to go that I have my executive producer, John (also my amazing son), going with me to shoot video and help video/record podcast episodes. I’ll take you with me, so follow me on my social media.

You can also follow the #notatISTE hashtag and #ISTELIve on social media. I'll be sharing on Facebook, and Twitter, and am now on BlueSky @coolcatteacher.bsky.social.
